How to fix S80 setup problems

Check 1: Is Green light on?

The IPMate S80 adaptor has a green light on top. The light should be on. If it is off, check that you have connected the S80 adaptor to the USB port. Plug the USB cable into the IPMate S80 and the other end of the cable into any USB port on your computer.

If it is still off: If you have another USB cable available, please try that.

Check 2: Do you have the green Skype icon?

At the bottom right of your screen (near the clock) you should see:

If the Skype icon is not ticked, either you have not installed the Skype software, or your internet connection is not working.

Check 3: Do you have the little purple telephone icon?

At the bottom right of your screen (near the clock) you should see either:

If you see the purple telephone icon (IPMate ON above)

This indicates you have installed everything correctly!

Did you do the Skype echo test using the speed dial facility? If not, please do the Skype echo test, details are here.

If your phone is not working, then there are two possibilities: either the phone you are using does not work with the adaptor, or the telephone cable connecting the phone to the adaptor is faulty. Please try a different phone and / or telephone cable. You can use a corded or cordless phone for your test. If you get it to work with another phone, then everything is setup correctly.

If you see the purple icon but no phone (IPMate OFF above)

If you see the purple icon, but it has the purple circle no-entry symbol instead of the telephone, then do the following:

1. Repeat check 1 above. If that is all correct, and did not resolve the problem, then do the following:

2. Disconnect the adaptor form your computer (green light on adaptor goes off).

3. Right-click on the purple icon (see below). Menu comes up (see below). Choose Exit.

You see this message: choose Yes.

The purple icon is gone.

4. With the adaptor still disconnected, close all open programs and then reboot your computer.

In Windows Explorer, find the c:\phone folder (created when you installed the IPMate software). It should look something like this:

Note: You may not see the extensions (depending upon how your Windows Explorer file is setup), but you should recognise the file names.

Still in Windows Explorer, find the runme (or runme.exe) file and double click it. Click "I agree".

For all the screens you see now, simply click Next. The last screen does not have a Next button - instead click the Install button. On the final screen, just click Finish. (If may ask you whether to allow Skype to be used. If it does, choose the first option: "Allow this program to use Skype").

You should now see the purple icon:

Plug in the adaptor. The icon should now change to:

Do the Skype echo test, details are here.

All should now be fine. If there is still a problem, start at the top of this page and carefully repeat the checks listed.
